PELLA, Iowa (Oct. 25, 2025) -
Canton Nadermann tied things up with his first goal of the year late in the first half and that's how things stood until Central College put home the winning goal midway through the second half to edge BVU in its final road game of the year, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutch took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half when Nate Lampe turned his his second goal of the year just into the 20'. Nadermann pulled BVU even off an assist from freshman
Andres Gonzalez with just over five minutes remaining in the half.
The two teams were nearly even in total shot in the first half with Central holding a slight edge at 5-3. The Dutch picked up their pace a bit more in the second half with a 17-5 cushion despite only four of those landing on-goal. One of those four proved to be the eventual game-winner as Teddy Apostolopoulos made it a 2-1 contest early in the 70'.
Buena Vista had back-to-back shot opportunities in the final minute but one attempt went just left and the other too high.
Cael Thacker and
Raymond Hernandez each had two shots to lead BVU with Hernandez and
Jeramiah Rediske tallying the team's other two shots-on-goal.
Central (8-3-4, 4-1-2) had three different players turn in four shots overall as it chalked up seven on-goal for the game.
Senior
Zachary Sigler made five saves while going the distance as Buena Vista dipped to 5-10-1 on the year (0-7 A-R-C). The team will finish its season on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at home by hosting the University of Dubuque at 7:30 p.m.
