STORM LAKE, Iowa (Feb. 10, 2023) - Buena Vista senior Garrett Bruce took the mat for the final time inside of Siebens Fieldhouse on Friday night and picked up a decision for the Beavers but it wasn't enough as #11 Luther College handed BVU a 49-3 loss in the regular season finale.
Bruce picked up an early first period takedown and added a big insurance takedown in the third period to cap off his 5-2 victory at 174Â pounds over Abraham Galicia.
The Norse picked up a fall at 125 pounds and a major decision at 133 before winning by forfeit at the next two weights to build a 22-0 advantage. They would go on to add three more falls and a forfeit to close out the dual to improve to 13-6 (5-3 A-R-C).
Max Mashek came up just short in a thrilling 4-3 setback at 165 pounds.
Buena Vista wraps up the regular season at 3-13 overall (1-7 A-R-C). The team now turns its preparation to the NCAA DIII Lower Midwest Regional Tournament on Feb. 24-25 at Springfield, Ill.
