Wrestling Falls to a Pair of Ranked Teams during A-R-C Duals

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Jan. 21, 2023) - The Buena Vista University wrestling team hosted its pod of teams on Saturday during the American Rivers Conference duals, but the Beavers faced some stiff competition and would go 0-3 on the day, including losses to nationally-ranked Dubuque and Wartburg.

BVU began the day against Central College and fell to the Dutch, 44-3 before dropping a 41-9 dual to #24 Dubuque and a 53-0 dual to #3 Wartburg.

Senior Garret Bruce helped lead the way for the Beavers with a 2-1 record on the day with his only setback coming against Wartburg's second-ranked Zane Mulder. Junior Max Mashek picked up the team's other victory on the day by taking down Dubuque's Garrett Johnson, 9-2.

The third ranked Knights went 3-0 on the day while #24 Dubuque was 2-1 and Central 1-2.

Buena Vista is now 3-11 overall (1-5 A-R-C) and is off until Jan. 27-28 when the team competes at the annual Pete Willson Wheaton College Invite.
