INDIANOLA, Iowa (February 4, 2022) - It was a back-and-forth dual with each team winning five bouts, but it was Simpson getting the fall in the final outing of the night to come out with a 24-21 victory over the Buena Vista wrestling team on Friday night in an American Rivers Conference match-up.
The Storm notched bonus points in four of their five victories, including falls at both 125 and HWT. BVU got back-to-back victories at 184 and 197 pounds, including a second period fall by
Don Phillips II which gave BVU its only lead at 21-18. Junior Garrett Bruce pulled tthe Beavers within 13-12 when he locked up a tight cradle and earned a late third period fall.Â
Caleb Massari put the team on the board at 133 pounds when he foced a stalling calling in the opening seconds of sudden victory to win 5-4.Â
Isaiah Schannep keeps his strong freshman campaign going with a hard fought 7-4 triumph at 149 pounds.
The win moves Simpson to 6-4 overall this season and 1-3 in the A-R-C.
Buena Vista drops to 1-11 overall (0-6 A-R-C). The Beavers are off until next Friday, February 11, when they travel to Luther College for a 7:00 p.m. A-R-C dual with the Norse.
