LINCOLN, Neb. (May 13, 2021) - Senior
Tyler Tennyson pitched his second straight complete-game shutout in Thursday afternoon's opener against Nebraska Wesleyan and also launched a three-run homerun in the first inning as the Beavers took game one by the score of 5-0. The Prairie Wolves jumped all over BVU early in game two and rolled to a 15-1 (7 inn.) triump to earn the split.
Tennyson allowed just four hits and struck out six over seven innings of work to improve his season record to 7-2 and lower his ERA to 2.34 which sits fifth in the American Rivers Conference. He now leads the league in innings pitched with 69.2. He helped out his own cause in the opening inning by giving his team a 3-0 advantage after sending his team-leading third home run of the year inside the foul pole in left.
Jordan Mathewson singled home a run in the second for a 4-0 lead and
Parker Truesdell added an RBI single in the sixth.
Senior
Tyler Stoltze finished 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored while both Jordan and
Caden Mathewson returned to their home state and each registered two hits.
It was all NWU in game after BVU pushed across a run in the top of the first on a
Logan Mueller RBI single. The Prairie Wolves responded with five runs in the bottom half and then went on to score three times in the third and fourth innings before pushing across four runs in the fifth.
BVU was held to only three hits in the contest.
Michael Demers suffered the loss after going just 2.2 innings and being charged with seven runs.
The Beavers sit at 18-20 overall (14-16 A-R-C) and will close out the regular season on Friday afternoon with the final two games of the series. First pitch of game one is set for 1:00 p.m.
