LINCOLN, Neb. (May 14,2021) - The Buena Vista baseball team wrapped up its regular season on Friday afternoon with a doubleheader split at Nebrask Wesleyan as each team won a pair of games in the four-game series.
Senior
Tyler Tennyson broke the game open for the Beavers in the seventh with a three-run double that sparked a four-run frame and put the team in front 7-2. BVU trailed 2-1 midway through before sophomore
Jordan Mathewson hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the fifth for one of his three hits in the contest. He also scored three of the team's seven runs.Â
Caden Mathewson also drove in a run and scored once while Logan Muller drove in a run as well.
Dalton Glenn turned in a solid outing on the mound and evened his season record at 5-5. The sophomore pitched 5.0 innings, allowed just two runs (one earned) and five hits while striking out five and walking only two. Fellow sophomore
Calvin Harris came on in relief to pitch the final two frames while picking up his sixth save of the year which ties him for the fourth-most in a single season in program history. Â
The Beavers were going after its fourth straight series win, including its third consecutive within conference play, and were in position after jumping out to an early 3-1 lead. The Prairie Wolves tied it at 3-3 in the fourth before BVU went back in front 4-3 in the fifth following
Calvin Harris' second career home run. Â
The Prairie Wolves, however, would go on to score single runs in each of the final three innings to even the series and avoid the doubleheader sweep.
Senior
Nick Henrichs went 2-for-4, including a 2-run double while Harris also finished 2-for-4. Tennyson added another double giving him 15 on the year which is tied for sixth in program history. Â

Brayden Polzien (2-2) suffered the loss despite allowing just two runs and four hits over 2.2 innings. Â
Buena Vista concludes its regular season at 19-21 overall (15-17 A-R-C). The team will now shift its focus to next week's American Rivers Conference Tournament that begins on Thursday, May 20. BVU appears to be in position to be a fourth-seed in the tournament. The official schedule and pairings will be released over the weekend.
