FORT DODGE, Iowa (April 10, 2021) - Sophomore
Joey Ashley finished with a 6-over par 148 and tied for seventh overall to help lead the Buena Vista men's golf team at the Iowa Central Spring Invite which wrapped up with the final 18 holes on Saturday afternoon.
Ashley got the 36-hole event off to a strong start on Friday with a round of 72 and sat just two shots back of the lead. He followed that up with a 76 on Saturday and despite falling two spots still posted his best finish of the year. Senior
Anthony Gallagher carded rounds of 76 and 75, respectively, to finish tied for 13th. Fellow senior
Ryan Ruzek also had a pair of rounds in the 70's, including a 76 to close out his weekend and tie for 24th at 155.
Evan Krause (77-81) and
Izaak Sander (85-86) round out the Beaver line-up which took sixth overall out of 12 teams with a two-day total of 612.
The host Tritons took the team title wit a 575 to win by 25 shots over runner-up DMACC. Iowa Central's Austin Erickson and Kirkwood's James Morgan each posted an even-par 142 to tie for individual medalist honors.
Buena Vista continues its spring schedule on April 22 at the Central College Spring Invite at Bos Landen GC in Pella.
