KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 23, 2021) - The Buena Vista men's golf team finally had its chance to step out on a course for the first competition of the spring as the team competed in the two-day Shoal Creek Invite, hosted by Baker University, that wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon.
Ryan Ruzek carded a team-best round of 79 to begin the event on Monday before coming back with a final round 80 and place 14th overall.
Anthony Gallagher (81-83) was five strokes back with a 36-hole total of 164 while both
Evan Krause (87-80) and
Shane Hess (83-84) tied at 167.
Joey Ashley was the fifth member of the scoring team and posted an overall 36-hole score of 174 to place 33rd.
Peyton Stage was one of three golfers to compete, individually, and he posted a 178, including an opening round 84.
Gaven Bruellman bounced back over his final 18 holes to shave 14 strokes off of his opening round score.
The Beavers turned in rounds of 326 and 327, respectively, to finish eight strokes behind a pair of Baker University teams that tied for third. Indian Hills Community College claimed the team title after a 36-hole finish of 593. They also claimed the individual medalist, Antoine Sale, who posted an opening round 67 to help lead him to an eight-shot victory.
BVU is scheduled to return to the course on March 28-29 when the team is to take part in the Kirkwood Invite at Cedar Rapids.
