STORM LAKE, Iowa (February 13, 2021) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team will take the court for the first time this year following a win as it is set to host Coe College inside of Siebens Fieldhouse on Saturday night.? BVU had its scheduled contest on both Monday and Wednesday night postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

The Beavers won at home against Luther College 69-65 last Saturday night.?BVU outscored the Norse by 6 points in the second half after trailing by 2 going into half. Senior Cassy Miller ?knocked down a pair of long range buckets and led the Beavers with 17 points.? Sophomore?Olivia Larsen?followed closely with 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and eight steals.? Sophomore Vanessa Hamlett recorded a double double with 10 points and a game high 13 rebounds. The Beavers finished the game shooting just 14% percent from the field on 3-of-21 from downtown.

BVU will play its fourth straight home contest to begin its season when it takes the court to face the Kohawks.?Through the first?three outings, the team is averaging 65.7ppg and shooting just shy of 40 percent from the field overall while converting an average of 5.3 three-point treys per night.? Opponents are shooting nearly 50 percent from the field but the Beavers have been able to hold them to just above 30 percent from distance and are being outrebounded by only an average of two per game.? Larsen?has scored in double figures each game, including a 24-point performance in the season opener against Central.? She's also turning in 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists?and 4.0 steals per contest.? Freshman?Megan Morenz?is averaging right at 10.0ppg and grabbing 5.5 rebounds.? Hamlett has matched Larsen on the glass with 6.5 per game.? The Beavers will be looking to continue their winning trend.
ABOUT THE KOHAWKS
Coe is playing its fourth conference game and its sixth game overall?on Saturday after winning a conference contest vs. #5 Wartburg back on February 3. Senior Jackie Feldt led the Kohawks will 15 points. She was followed by Sydney Schroder?with 10 and Molly Buck?with 8.? The Kohawks were held to just 36 percent shooting overall by the Knights and made just 6-of-22 long range attempts and the team the rebounding battle at 36-45 and forced 19 turnovers to their 20 turnovers.
