COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (November 13, 2021) - The Buena Vista wrestling team took advantage of three forfeits to begin the dual and tacked on three more wins late en route to a strong 32-20 non-conference road victory at St. John's University on Saturday afternoon.
BVU was able to build an 18-0 lead before even wrestling a match and continued to lead 21-8 after a 10-5 decision from
Garret Bruce at 165. The Johnnies were able to claw back to within 21-20 before getting a big technical fall from
Diego Escarcega at 197 pounds and a fall from
Errol Alden at 285.
The victory was the first in the career of first-year head coach
Sean White.
Buena Vista now sits at 1-1 overall this season and will get set to host third-ranked Loras Collge on Wednesday, November 17, in what will also be the American Rivers Conference opener for both teams. Action inside of Siebens Fieldhouse is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
