ABOUT BUENA VISTA

The Beavers snapped a nine-match conference losing skid when they picked up a pair of American Rivers Conference victories over Simpson College and Nebraska Wesleyan, respectively, down in Lincoln, Neb., last Saturday.  BVU trailed the Storm 15-7 before closing strong in the upper weights en route to a thrilling 22-19 comeback win.  That momentum carried over into the finale against the host Prairie Wolves where the Beavers rolled off five straight bonus-point victories to close the dual, including four by fall, en route to a 38-17 victory.  Senior Don Phillips II (197lbs), sophomore Diego Escarcega (184lbs) and sophomore Floyd Miller (174lbs) each went 2-0 with a combined five bonus-point wins.  Phillips led the team a year ago with 21 triumphs.

ABOUT LORAS

The ninth-ranked Duhawks picked up their first-ever A-R-C crown a season ago along with a Lower Midwest Regional Championship but then saw their hopes of vying for a national title cut short due to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that forced the cancellation of the NCAA Championships.  The team took on both a DI & DII  program to begin this season, falling to both #9 Iowa State (40-0) and #2 University of Nebraska-Kearney (25-14) back on January 10 in Ames, Iowa.  The team has four returning All-Americans back in the line-up this season.

ABOUT LUTHER

The Norse are also kicking off their shortened campaign this weekend after last week's triangular was postponed.  The team is coming off an 11-6 season in 2019-20 which included a 5-3 mark in conference duals.  It brings back four returning regional placewinners, including sophomore 149-pounder Marcus Mandler and senior 184-pounder Ira Kuehn, who both placed fifth.

ON DECK

The Beavers are slated to continue their conference schedule next Saturday when they travel to Waverly and compete in a triangular with both Central and Wartburg beginning at 1:00 p.m.
