STORM LAKE, Iowa (January 26, 2020) - The Buena Vista University women's basketball team is set to begin its shortened 2020-21 season on Wednesday night inside of Siebens Fieldhouse, as the Beavers host Central College in an American Rivers Conference match-up.

Wednesday marks the 87th meeting all-time between the two programs which first began back in the 1976-77 campaign...the Dutch have won three of the last four contests, including both match-ups in 2019-20...BVU's home loss to the Dutch a year ago snapped the team's 19-game home win streak in the series which dated back to the 2000-01 season.

ABOUT THE DUTCH
Central is back on the floor after picking up a thrilling 72-71 road win against the University of Dubuque this past Saturday...Returning Second Team All-Conference performer Kelsea Hurley turned in 22 points and five rebounds while Carson Fisk added 12 points....Hurley is one of four starters back for a team that finished last season at 15-11 overall (7-9 A-R-C) and earned the sixth seed into the A-R-C Tournament...Hurley averaged over 13.0ppg a year ago and tallied 78 assists while Maci Gambell averaged 9.7ppg and 5.4rpg.

WHO'S BACK FOR THE BEAVERS
A total of seven players are set to return for BVU led by the team's only senior Cassy Miller who started 20 games a year ago, dished out 51 assists and had 27 steals...Junior Christina Schauer averaged nearly 14 minutes off the bench with Vanessa Hamlett averaging 11.0 minutes and over 3.0 rebounds.

NEW FACES
BVU welcomes a pair of transfers and eight first-year players to this year's roster.

BVU will continue its schedule and close out the week this upcoming Saturday night, January 30, by hosting Wartburg College at 7:00 p.m.
