Men's Tennis Wraps up Season with Home Match against Morningside

The Buena Vista men's tennis team hosted Morningside College on Tuesday afternoon to wrap up the 2015-16 season, and it was the Mustangs going on to earn the 8-1 victory.

Chris Habermann and Jesse Brace closed out its strong doubles season with a heartbreaking 9-8 loss.  Morningside also went on to take the final two doubles matches by identical 8-2 scores.

Habermann did bounce back in thrilling fashion to take his number on singles match in three sets.  After falling 6-1 in the opening set, he stormed back to force a decisive third set with a 6-3 triumph.  The tiebreaker was tight from the start, but Habermann was able to pull off enough solid shots in the end to win 10-8.

"He played a really good match the whole time," said BVU head coach Brett Groen.  "It didn't go his way in the first set, but when Chris got it going, it really turned into a great match to watch."

Morningside went on to win in straight sets in three of the other five singles bouts while also taking two matches by 8-3 and 8-1 margins.

"Each player from top to bottom will have something to work on in the offseason to make them stronger, and I already have a strong feeling things will be alot brighter for this team in the fall," Groen adds.  "We don't lose anyone, and we will be brining in some kids that will help the program from the first day."
