The Buena Vista men's tennis team was back in action on Sunday morning for an Iowa Conference home match against Wartburg College, and it was the Knights hanging on for a 6-3 thriller over the Beavers out on the Buntrock Tennis Courts.
Wartburg grabbed two of the three doubles matches with the Beavers' lone win coming in the number three slot by Jesse Brace and Grant Wright who notched an 8-5 win. The number one tandem of Chris Habermann and Kyle Weeded were edged in a tight 8-6 decision to start the day.
Habermann and Robby Steffes were each victorious in their number one and five singles slots, respectively, while Kyle Shade dropped a tough three-set tiebreaker at number three after winning the first set, 6-4.
The loss dropped BVU to 2-11 overall (0-3 IIAC). The team will continue its schedule again on Tuesday, April 14, when it hosts Luther College in a 3:30pm match in Storm Lake.
