Men's Soccer Rolls to 6-0 Road Win at Rockford

Joey Stivers scored two goals and added an assist, while Kwame Antwi and Tyler Lafferty each added a goal and an assist, and the Buena Vista men's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 road victory at Rockford University on Sunday afternoon.

Antwi got the scoring started for BVU, knocking through a goal off a pass from Meldzan Isakovich late in the 13th minute.  Seven minutes later, it was Antwi finding Lafferty for a 2-0 lead before Stivers tallied the first of his two scores during the 28th minute.

BVU, which out-shot Rockford, 25-5, in the contest, added to its total less than two minutes into the second half, when Lafferty dished a pass to Alex Chavez for his first goal of the year.

Stivers then converted a pass from Juan Flores-Andrade for his second goal of the contest before he then found Axel Shema for the final goal.

Stivers now has four goals on the year to go along with an assist.  He finished the match with a team-leading eight total shots.

Freshman Matt Tennyson got his first career win in-goal, going the distance and posting three saves.  It was also the team's second shutout of the year.

Buena Vista improves to 2-4 overall and returns to action next Sunday, September 22, when it hosts Presentation College in a 2:00pm match inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium.
