Box Score The Buena Vista men's soccer team dug itself into a 3-0 hole just five minutes into the match on Friday evening at Marian Univ. (Wis.) and came eventually came up on the short end of a 5-2 loss.
David Reinke scored all three goals for Marian in a five-minute span to begin the match, including the first with only 2:25 gone by.
Juan Flores-Andrade put the Beavers on the board during the 35th minute when he nailed a penalty kick for his second goal of the year.
Marian, who led 4-1 at the half, posted the first goal of the second before Tyler Lafferty found Brody Foster off a rebound following a free kick during the 86th minute for the final score of the match.
Marian edged BVU, 14-11, in total shots, including a 7-5 margin in shots-on-goal.
Lafferty led the way with five of those shots for BVU, including one on goal.
Freshman Matt Tennyson got the start in-goal for the Beavers and went the distance, allowing all five goals, while chalking up two saves.
Buena Vista is now 1-4 overall and will look to get back into the win column on Sunday when it plays at Rockford College (Ill.). That match is scheduled to get underway at 2:00pm.
