STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 19, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's soccer returned home to J. Leslie Rollins Stadium on Saturday afternoon to host the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and the Beavers would make the most of their shot attempts in the match by getting goals from three different players and hanging on for a big 3-2 non-conference victory over the Falcons.

In what was the first-ever meeting between the two programs, it was the Beavers breaking a scoreless tie during the 31' on the first career goal from senior Daniel Martinez off an assist from sophomore Brayden Schwinck. BVU had only two shots in the opening half but would reach the locker room in front 1-0.

Freshman Brendyn Batemon turned in his  first career goal off an assist from Brett Moreno early in the second half that doubled the lead just over five minutes into the half. 

The Falcons, who chalked up 18  shots in the match overall, tried to rally late in the half. They got on the board and cut the Beaver lead during the 64', but the Beavers came right back four minutes later and pushed the lead back up to two goals with a goal from Schwinck and an assist from Jeramiah Rediske.

UW-River Falls (3-4-1) tried to keep things close and would make it a 3-2 contest with a goal late in the  72' minute.  They got off a pair of last second attempts as the final seconds of the match winded down, but were both saved by freshman goalkeeper Christian Pogue who chalked up seven overall.

Buena Vista improves to 1-3-3 on the year and plays next on Thursday, Sept. 24, at Maranatha Baptist. Game time in Watertown, Wis., is set for 4 p.m.
