Martin Luther Rallies to Edge BVU 2-1

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 1, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's soccer team took an early 1-0 lead over Martin Luther off a goal from Jeramiah Rediske, but the Knights would rally to tie the match going into half before adding a late second half goal en route to a 2-1 non-conference victory.

Rediske took a nice feed downfield from Vincent Dempsey and knocked the ball through in the north goal with under seven minutes into the match for the first goal of the year. Rediske finished the night with three shots and two on-goal to help lead the way for the Beavers.

Martin Luther tied things at 1-1 with 8:30 minutes to go in the opening half, and that's how things stood going into intermission, despite BVU holding an 8-2 edge in total shots.

The attack was a bit more even across the final 45 minutes and it was a back-and-forth battle until the very end. Not only were the team's both battling each other, both sides were dealing with cramping due to the extreme heat the entire night.

The Knights turned in the eventual game-winner during the 77th minute on a lose ball from a corner kick.

Alexis Sanabia made his Beaver debut in the net and registered one save while going the distance. Aside from Rediske, the Beavers got two shots apiece from Lucas Ehle, Jeremy Freund and Jacob Freund.

Buena Vista (0-1-0) looks to get back on track when it hosts Concordia College (Minn.) on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
