STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 12, 2026) - The Buena Vista volleyball team hosted Rockford University and Martin Luther College on Saturday as part of the Central Bank Triangular, and the Beavers remained perfect on the season with a pair of 3-0 sweeps on the day.

The opening set against Rockford to begin the day was sluggish at times for both teams, but the Beavers settled in midway through the set and eventually pulled away late for the 25-20 victory. From there, it was all BVU which had an attack percentage over .300 in each of the final two sets. The team finished with 48 kills and a .255 percentage overall.

It was a balanced attack at the net for the Beavers with sophomore Charley Hernandez chalking up eight kills and six digs, senior Hope Vanderlinden had eight kills and a .375 percentage. The freshman duo of Nora Konz and Jocelyn O'Neal both chipped in with seven kills with Konz leading the way with 11 digs. Junior Merced Ramirez dished out a team-high 15 assists with junior Anabel Seaman on her heels with 13.

The Regents led by three during most of the opening set and was up 16-14 midway through. BVU then rolled off three straight points, including back-to-back kills from Vanderlinden and Hernandez to take a 17-16 lead. Moments later, the Beavers then used a 4-0 surge to seize control at 23-18 en route to the 25-20 victory. BVU  never trailed in the second set after jumping out to a 6-1 cushion and went on to win 25-12. It was much of the same in the third after building an early 10-2 advantage that led to a 25-13 triumph.

BVU held Rockford to only 15 kills and forced them into an attack percentage of .027 for the match.

After seeing Martin Luther defeat Rockford in three sets, the Beavers went back to work against the Knights to wrap up the day, and had little trouble. Both teams went back-and-forth throughout a good portion of the opening set with BVU hanging on to win 25-21. After that, the Beavers allowed just 15 points combined over the final two sets while cruising to 25-6 and 25-9 victories.

For the second time already this season, Hernandez turned in 18 kills without an error while posting a stellar percentage of .545. The 18 kills are tied for sixth-most in program history for a three-set match. She notched her fourth double-double of the year while also adding 12 digs. No other player reached double figures in kills but senior Sydney Meints added eight and Konz seven. Ramirez turned in a double-double with 15 assists and 13 digs while freshman Kaylee Wray also added 13 digs.

BVU posted 48 kills and only eight errors in the match and had an attack percentage over .500 in each of the final two sets.

The Beavers improve to 6-0 overall and hosts Grinnell College in a non-conference match on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m.
