STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 12, 2026) - The Buena Vista volleyball team hosted Rockford University and Martin Luther College on Saturday as part of the Central Bank Triangular, and the Beavers remained perfect on the season with a pair of 3-0 sweeps on the day.
The opening set against Rockford to begin the day was sluggish at times for both teams, but the Beavers settled in midway through the set and eventually pulled away late for the 25-20 victory. From there, it was all BVU which had an attack percentage over .300 in each of the final two sets. The team finished with 48 kills and a .255 percentage overall.
It was a balanced attack at the net for the Beavers with sophomore Charley Hernandez chalking up eight kills and six digs, senior Hope Vanderlinden had eight kills and a .375 percentage. The freshman duo of Nora Konz and Jocelyn O'Neal both chipped in with seven kills with Konz leading the way with 11 digs. Junior Merced Ramirez dished out a team-high 15 assists with junior Anabel Seaman on her heels with 13.
The Regents led by three during most of the opening set and was up 16-14 midway through. BVU then rolled off three straight points, including back-to-back kills from Vanderlinden and Hernandez to take a 17-16 lead. Moments later, the Beavers then used a 4-0 surge to seize control at 23-18 en route to the 25-20 victory. BVU never trailed in the second set after jumping out to a 6-1 cushion and went on to win 25-12. It was much of the same in the third after building an early 10-2 advantage that led to a 25-13 triumph.
BVU held Rockford to only 15 kills and forced them into an attack percentage of .027 for the match.
