INDIANOLA, Iowa (Feb. 21, 2026) - Buena Vista freshman Savannah Freifeld capped off her freshman campaign on Saturday afternoon by placing sixth at the NCAA Women's Wrestling Regional 5 Tournament held this year inside of Cowles Fieldhouse on the Simpson College campus.

Freifeld began her day with a quick 10-0 technical fall in only 1:30 to keep her bid for a national tournament berth alive but that momentum came up short in the end as she lost a pair of hard fought decision, losing to the No. 4 seed, 11-2, and then to the No. 5 seed, 7-0.

In just her first season, Freifeld set both the single season and career record for overall wins at 26.

Fellow freshman Alannah Peterson also advanced to the second day of action but she would drop her first match of the day and was eliminated.

The tournament concludes the season for the Beavers.
