It was a back-and-forth game at the start with five ties in the opening quarter and the biggest lead by either team in the quarter did not come until Cone buried her first three-point of the night to close out the frame and give BVU a 21-15 lead.
The Beavers carried that momentum into the second quarter where they shot 50 percent from the floor while holding the Duhawks under 30 percent and building a 42-27 lead at the half. It was all BVU to start the second half with a 16-2 run over the first five minutes that gave the Beavers a 58-29 advantage, and they maintained that by taking a 24-point cushion to the final quarter.
Cone's three-point bucket made it a 73-51 game with just over four minutes left, and despite Loras showing some full court pressure over the final half of the quarter as BVU emptied its bench, the Beavers were well in control en route to completing the season sweep.
Ashtyn Kelderman led the Duhawks (9-16, 5-11 A-R-C) with 20 points, eight rebounds and six steals while Claire Wagner added a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.
Buena Vista improves to 16-9 on the year (10-6 A-R-C) and will now host sixth-seed Central College (12-13, 7-9 A-R-C) in the quarterfinal round of the A-R-C Tournament next Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. The two teams split the regular season match-ups. The winner advances to the semifinal round at No. 2 seed Coe College on Thursday, Feb. 26.
