1/5/2026 4:15:00 PM

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Jan. 5, 2026) - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) has announced its first weekly honors since before the holiday break, and Buena Vista junior men's basketball player Carter Sievers has been tabbed as the A-R-C Men's Basketball Performer of the Week.

Included in this weekly honor from the league are any competitions between Dec. 15, 2025 and Jan. 4, 2026.

Sievers and the Beavers played five times during that stretch and went 4-1 overall. In those five games, Sievers averaged a team-high 21.0ppg along with 4.0rpg, 4.0apg and 0.8spg.

Carter Sievers, BVU men's basketball vs. Howard Payne

Sievers began the stretch at North Central University (MN) on December 16 with 17 points, six rebounds and a career-high nine assists. That marked just his second game back after missing a month with a hand injury.

In a home game against Howard Payne University back on Dec. 29, Sievers flirted with a triple double, scoring a team-high 25 points, grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out seven dimes to help lift the Beavers to a thrilling 99-97 non-conference victory. Nearly half of his points scored came at the charity stripe where he went 12-of-16. Both the total makes and attempts go down as the highest single-game totals by any player in the A-R-C to this point of the season.

A day later as BVU hosted Carleton College, the junior turned in a season-high 27 points and was a career-best 5-of-8 from behind the arc.

He capped off the run this past Saturday at the University of Dubuque as the Beavers resumed conference play. It was his layup with four seconds to play in regulation that was the game-winner as the Beavers knocked off the Spartans 71-69. Sievers scored a team-high 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting which included a trio of made three-point buckets.

For the five games, he shot over 50 percent from the field and was 12-of-25 (48 percent) from long range and 29-of-37 at the free-throw line (78 percent). He is currently ranked second in the A-R-C in scoring (18.0ppg) and three-point percentage (45.7 percent) and is fourth in assists per game (3.9).

This marks the first time that Sievers has landed such honors in his career. It is the third time this season that BVU has taken the men's basketball Performer of the Week accolades (Jayden Brink has done so twice).

Buena Vista is 9-4 on the year (2-2 A-R-C) and plays at Loras College (10-3, 4-0 A-R-C) on Saturday, Jan. 10. Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
