Women's Basketball Buries 16 from Downtown in 89-52 Win over Dubuque

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Jan. 31, 2026) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team knocked down 16 from downtown and shot over 53 percent from behind the arc, as the team completed the season sweep over the Spartans on Saturday afternoon with an 89-52 victory inside of Siebens Fieldhouse.

Sophomore Bradi Krager had a monster game with 24 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and four steals. She was on fire from long range by making a career-high 5-of-6. Fellow sophomore Tyme Boettcher made 3-of-4 from the arc and was right behind with 20 points, six boards and six assists. Senior Madalynn Hilgendorf was 2-for-4 from long distance and finished with eight points and eight boards while senior Danika Demers also made a pair of treys and chipped in with six points, four assists and four steals.

The 16 made three-point buckets were the most for the team in a game since burying 19 during a 109-49 victory over Faith Baptist in the second game of this season. It was the most for BVU during conference play since it made 14 back on Feb. 9, 2019, also against the University of Dubuque.

Demers buried one of her two three-point treys on the game's opening possession while Krager added back-to-back triples as BVU raced out to a quick 13-0 lead. The Spartans didn't let the Beavers completely run them out of the gym and chipped away to keep it within 20-13 at the end of the quarter.

The long range shots kept falling for BVU in the second quarter as it outscored Dubuque by 10 in the quarter and extended the cushion to 42-25 at the half. The Beavers carried the momentum right into the third quarter where they made 10-of-13 shots overall from the field, including four more from downtown, while again outscoring the Spartans by 10 in the frame and make it 67-40 going to the third.
