Kohawks Hand Women's Basketball Tough Road Loss

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Jan. 28, 2026) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team couldn't overcome a tough shooting night, especially a 1-of-21 effort from long range, as the Beavers were handed a tough 90-40 road loss on Wednesday night at Coe College.

Sophomore Tyme Boettcher was the only Beaver to score in double figures on the night, finishing with 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting. Freshman Adeeya Yanga was the next closest with six points. Sophomore Bradi Krager chipped in with four points and a team-high five rebounds.

The Beavers went up 2-0 less than a minute into the game but then was held to only four points the remainder of the quarter and trailed 21-6. The shooting woes continued into the second quarter as BVU was again held under 30 percent shooting as the Kohawks extended the lead to 47-17 at the half.

Buena Vista finished the game shooting under 27 percent from the field (16-for-60) while the Kohawks shot 59.4 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from downtown.

Turnovers also plagued the Beavers in the game as they were forced into making 22 which led to 33 points for the Kohawks. Coe turned the ball over only 12 times.

Audrie Helmrichs led the way for the Kohawks (15-4, 9-1 A-R-C) in scoring with a game-high 21 points on 10-of-11 shooting. Taryn Kravig made 4-of-5 from downtown and added 18 points.

Buena Vista falls to 11-9 on the year and 5-5 in conference play. The team returns home on Saturday, Jan. 31, looking to complete the season sweep against the University of Dubuque. Tip-off inside of Siebens Fieldhouse is at 2 p.m.
