DUBUQUE, Iowa (Jan. 24, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's wrestling team went up against a pair of top-10 teams on Saturday as the it competed in the A-R-C Duals with this year's pod hosted by the University of Dubuque. The Beavers finished 0-3 on the day, falling to the host Spartans, 28-21, No. 2 Wartburg, 52-0, and No. 9 Central, 42-7.

Senior Tyler Japp was the only individual for BVU to win multiple matches on the day, as he went 2-1 overall with a pair of narrow decisions. In his first match of the day against th Spartans, Japp trailed 3-1 heading the the final period but did have riding time built up. It was a takedown and two-point nearfall in the third period that proved to be the difference, as he added the riding time en route to an 8-7 thriller. Japp then improved to 10-7 on the year with an 11-9 decision in his final outing of the day against the Dutch. He strung together a pair of second period takedowns and added a two-point nearfall in the final period.

Fellow seniors Hayden Stout (165) and Luis Salazar (197) each picked up decisions against Dubuque with junior LaTravion Agu pulling out a strong 13-4 major decision for his 11th win of the year.

Buena Vista is now 3-11 overall (0-6 A-R-C) and will next take part in the annual Pete Willson Invite hosted by Wheaton College on Jan. 30-31. Action is set to begin at 11 a.m. on both days.
