Hailey Chambers scored her third goal of the year for Buena Vista that tied the match at 1-1 early in the first half on Saturday, but it was Wartburg College going on to score eight unanswered goals the rest of the afternoon en route to a 9-1 victory in what was the American Rivers Conference opener for both teams.
The Knights got the scoring going with the first goal of the contest late in the 13' before Chambers took an assist from freshman
Macy Palmer and knocked through the game-tying goal five minutes later.
Sami Webster scored the next three goals for Wartburg (4-6, 1-0 A-R-C) which led 4-1 at the half. Webster then came out and scored the first goal of the second half just three minutes into play as the Knights added five second half goals and finished the day with 41 total shots.
Maia Jaroch got the start in-goal for BVU and played the first 70:10 and allowed seven goals while making seven saves. Palmer then moved in-goal for the remainder of the match and allowed two goals and chalked up one save.
Buena Vista drops to 3-5-1 on the year (0-1 A-R-C) and travels to UW-Stout for a non-conference match on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m.
