WAVERLY, Iowa (Sept. 27, 2025) - The Buena Vista men's soccer team went on the road to begin American Rivers Conference play at Wartburg College on Saturday afternoon, but the offensive attack by the Knights proved to be too much for BVU during a tough 7-1 loss.
Wartburg was on the attack the entire match with 18 shots in the first half and 12 more in the second half. The Beavers, meanwhile, were limited to only three shots overall.
The Knights (3-4, 1-0 A-R-C) got on the board early in the 13' and then made it 2-0 just 40 seconds later. Gembi Wembo scored his second straight goal for Wartburg midway through the period before a late first half goal made it 4-0 at the break.

Kendall Bickford got the Beavers onto the scoreboard with his first goal of the season during the 76' to make it 6-1. Bickford is second on the team this season with four total points. It marked the team's first goal scored against the Knights since 2008.Â
Zachary Sigler made the start in-goal for BVU and allowed the four first-half goals despite making eight saves.
Cody Fuller took over to begin the second half and went the rest of the way, allowing three goals and posting a pair of saves.
Buena Vista is 4-4 overall (0-1 A-R-C) and returns home on Monday, Sept. 29, to host Faith Baptist Bible College in a non-conference match starting at 5 p.m.
