Men's Soccer Bounces Back with 3-0 Win over Faith Baptist

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept . 29, 2025) - The Buena Vista men's soccer team stepped out of conference play on Monday night to host Faith Baptist Bible College, and the team's fast start helped lead it to a strong 3-0 victory over the Eagles.

Senior Caleb Swanson wasted little time breaking the scoreless match by gaining possession of the loose ball in the middle of the field and after dribbling for nearly 10 yards, he let it fly and got his shot past a diving goalkeeper just 94 seconds into the match to make it 1-0.

Sophomore Dominick Kamrath positioned himself in the middle of the box and took a nice lead pass from the far side off the foot of sophomore Alex Gonzalez and knocked it through for a 2-0 lead midway through the half. The goal was Kamrath's team-leading third of the year while Gonzalez dished out his first assist in a BVU jersey. With just under seven minutes left in the opening half, freshman Cael Thacker registered his first goal of the year off a pass from senior Kendall Bickford from just outside the right of the box. It was Bickford's third assist of the year and the 10th of his career.

The Beavers maintained the offensive pressure from start-to-finish which led to a 30-1 margin in total shots. Swanson along with fellow senior Kade Stover turned in a team-high five total shots and both had four on-goal. Kamrath and Gonzalez both followed closely with four shots apiece while Thacker added three. A total of 12 different players chalked up at least one shot for the Beavers.

Junior Zachary Sigler got the start in-goal and played the first half before giving way to senior Cody Fuller for the second half. Fuller made the save on the only shot attempt by the Eagles, who suffered their first setback of the year (5-1-1).

Buena Vista improves to 5-4 on the year and travels to the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Wednesday, Oct. 1 for a 5 p.m. non-conference match.
