DECORAH, Iowa (Apr. 19, 2025) - The Buena Vista men's golf team played its final tune-up before next week's conference championships by playing the Luther College Spring Invite on Friday and Saturday and ending with an eighth place team finish with a 36-hole score of 622.

The Beavers came out and carded a strong 309 during Friday's opening round but still found themselves in eighth but only nine shots back of sixth. BVU followed that up with a 313 on Saturday which turned out to be the highest score of the day among the nine-team field.

Junior Mason Laven had himself a strong 36 holes of play with an opening round 74 before closing on Saturday with a 79. He finished tied for 25th overall with teammate Gabe Kramer right behind in 27th after rounds of 75 and 79.

Kaleb Sander also carded a pair of rounds in the 70's, including a final round 76 but had to settle for a tie for 31st. Matthew Turpin had rounded out the top scorers for the Beavers with an 81 and 80.

UW-Stout captured the team title with a two-day score of 577 and held off Luther College (B) by 13 shots.

Next up for the Beavers will be the American Rivers Conference Championships which take place from Apr. 27-29 at Glenn Oaks Country Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
