WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (Mar. 6, 2025) - The Buena Vista baseball team scored seven runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back as the Beavers bounced back from its first loss of the spring trip in a big way with a lopsided 18-1 victory over North Park University on Thursday evening.
Junior
Seth Busch had a career day by going 3-for-4 with a double, triple, three RBI and four runs scored while also swiping one base. Sophomore
Brandon Jenkins homered and was one of six players to finish with two hits while driving in a team-leading four runs. Senior
Drew Taylor went 2-for-3 with and RBI and three runs scored. Senior
Joel Garcia was 2-for-3 with a walk and a hit by pitch. Overall, the Beavers chalked up a season-high 19 hits and have been in double digits in seven straight games. The 18 runs scored is also the team's highest single-game total since it plated 18 during an 18-10 win over Bethel University early last season.
Busch got things going out of the gate with a bases clearing three-run triple in the first inning to highlight the seven-run frame. The Vikings (0-7), who are coming off a 30-win season a year ago, got their lone run in the bottom of the first after two were out on an RBI double.
BVU chalked up five more runs in the third with Jenkins driving in his first two runs with a double to make it 12-1. Junior
Tegan Bock sent a ball high into the sky in the fourth that landed on the infield grass and resulted in an RBI double to make it 13-1. Jenkins then launched his first home run of the year in the fifth that extended it to a 15-1 margin before the Beavers added RBI singles from sophomore

Jaxon Van Pelt in the seventh.
Sophomore
Ean McDaniel went the distance for Buena Vista, allowing just four hits and striking out a season-high 10.
Buena Vista improves to 6-2 overall and will play Benedictine University (Ill.) in Davenport, Fla., on Friday, Mar. 7 with first pitch at 12 p.m. (ET).
