LA GRANGE, Ga. (Mar. 2, 2025) - The Buena Vista mens's tennis team continues its hot start to the spring break trip by rolling to its second straight win with a 5-2 victory at LaGrange College on Sunday morning.
As it did on Saturday, the Beavers got off to a fast start by claiming two of the three doubles match-ups. Sophomore
Kaiden DePascale and freshman
Nick Hiney picked up the 6-3Â win at No. 1 before the No. 2 senior tandem of
Brock Bruns and
Dalton Pregon were victorious, 6-1.Â
Pregon claimed stake to a strong 7-5, 6-3 win in his No. 2 singles and continued to fuel the team. Bruns chipped in with a singles win at No. 3 with Bryson Fredericksen adding to the overall win with his No. 6 singles triumph. It came down to senior
Ryan Webb who came out on top of a thrilling third-set tiebreaker at No. 4 singles by rallying from a 7-2 deficit to win the tiebreaker 11-9 and secure the win.
"This was an absolutely amazing match for the team today," said head coach
Brett Groen. "It was a great win from top to bottom with everyone contributing on and off the court to the team's success. With the match still completely undecided and super tight, things were left down to No. 4 singles and No. 6 singles with Ryan and Bryson. Playing side-by-side on the courts and having everybody watching, there was alot of pressure to get that final point and they both combined to get the win."
"How we played this afternoon and how we have continued to develop week to week has been fun to watch and it'll be great to see what we can do," added Groen.
Buena Vista improves it's overall record to 3-3. The team is headed to Hilton Head, S.C., to play its next four matches. The first of those is scheduled for Monday, Mar. 3 against Wilkes University and will start at 8:30 a.m.
