WAVERLY, Iowa (Feb. 1, 2025) - The Buena Vista University women's indoor track & field team was back in action on Saturday at the Wartburg College Select Meet. The Beavers finished the day with multiple top-5 finishes.
BVU was up against a field that included teams from NCAA III, DI and NAIA.
Sophomore
Megan Bakke was among that group as she took fifth with a new personal best time in the mile run of 5:27.63.
Karley Ruiz-Genovese also set her fastest time in the event and settled for 14th. Freshman
Claire Schroeder qualified third into the 60m hurdle finals (9.11s) and ended up fifth overall with a time of 9.35 seconds.
Senior
Courtney Johnson came in fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 12.89m (42-3.5) while teammate
Payton Schermerhorn was close behind in sixth at 12.73m (41.9.25). Johnson completed her day with a third-place performance in the shot put with a heave of 14.65m (48-0.75).
Freshman
Ava Mills took fourth overall in the pentathlon which began on Friday afternoon and finished on Saturday morning. She had the best mark in the shot put at 10.44m.
Buena Vista continues its schedule on February 8 at the Luther College Open in Decorah, Iowa.
