Women's Wrestling Secures Three Placewinners at BVU Open

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Dec. 6, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's wrestling team hosted the annual BVU Open on Saturday inside of the Lamberti Recreation Center on campus and landed a trio of placewinners on the day.

The event is the only home action for the Beavers this season, and it featured 180 wrestlers. 

Leading the way for BVU on the day was Alannah Peterson's second place performance at 235. Destiny Kolheim came in fourth at 160 pounds as did Paige Baier at 145 pounds.

After losing a tough match to begin the day for Peterson, she would bounce right back and win a hard fought 5-1 decision in the second round before closing out her day with a big fall in 1:53. Kolheim got off to hot start by winning her first three matches of the day, including a pair of falls. Baier went on to win four matches on the day, including back-to-back falls.

Buena Vista will be off for finals next week and then the holiday break before it returns to action on Jan. 3, at the Battle for the Helmet Invite in Mason City, Iowa.
