STORM LAKE, Iowa (Dec. 6, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team took their home court for the final time this calendar year on Saturday, hosting Central College, but it was the Dutch using a strong second quarter en route to a 78-61 American Rivers Conference victory.

The game was tied at 20-20 after the first quarter, and the Dutch began the second quarter on a 12-2 run. BVU got a layup from sophomore Bradi Krager in the first minute but the team then went the next five minutes without scoring as the Dutch opened up a 32-22 advantage. Four of Central's seven field goals in the quarter were from downtown which led to a 40-31 halftime lead.

Adriana Howard, BVU women's basketball vs. Central

BVU came out and got back-to-back buckets from freshman Adriana Howard to begin the second half and trimmed the Central lead down to five at 40-35 less than two minutes into the half. The Dutch, however, carried over their strong three-point shooting and got back-to-back makes to quickly push their advantage back up to double digits at 46-35. After the two early field goals, the Beavers managed just four over the final eight minutes and couldn't get go on enough of a run to get any closer than nine as Central led 58-45 thru three quarters.

Central (6-2, 2-0 A-R-C) maintained the double-digit margin throughout the entire fourth quarter by making 7-of-12 shot attempts and led by as many as 20 down the stretch.

Krager and sophomore Tyme Boettcher each scored 13 points to lead Buena Vista. Boettcher also hauled in a team-high six rebounds, dished out three assists and tallied two steals. Junior Mary Walker also reached double figures with 11 points.

Three-point shooting proved to be a deciding factor in the game with the Dutch making 11-of-28 from beyond the arc compared to only 6-of-17 for BVU. The Dutch were also 11-of-20 from the free-throw line while the Beavers, who have now dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season, attempted nine and made five.

Buena Vista dips to 4-5 overall (0-2 A-R-C) and will be off for finals next week before returning to the court on Dec. 13 at Simpson College (3-3, 1-0 A-R-C) for its final A-R-C game before the holiday break.
