Buena Vista trailed briefly at 3-2 in the opening minute, but then it was essentially all Beavers from there. Brink buried one of his four three-point buckets that helped spark a 13-2 run and broke open an 11-10 game. Later in the half, it was another 10-0 surge that pushed the lead up to 23 with 4:27 left in the half. The largest advantage of the half was 46-21 at the 2:22 mark, and BVU took a 50-26 lead into the locker room. It's the first time reaching 50 points in a first half since Jan. 15 of last season against Simpson when it put up 57.

After making 6-of-11 from long range in the first half, the Beavers cooled off a bit from downtown in the second by making only 4-of-15, but was still able to shoot over 48 percent in the half and maintain the lead throughout. The largest lead was after a Sievers layup with 12:33 to go that made it 71-41 but the Muskies were unable to get any closer than 22.

Defensively, the Beavers held the rebounding edge at 48-33 with 13 offensive boards and 18 second chance points. Both teams handled the ball well with BVU at 13 turnovers and Lakeland only 12.

Buena Vista improves to 7-3 on the year and will now be off for the holiday break. It will resume its schedule on Monday, Dec. 29, with a non-conference home game against Howard Payne University (10-3). Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
