BVU kept within striking distance with its long range shooting, connecting on four from downtown over the first 5:30 of the second half as Drake was only in front 54-41 at the 14:34 mark. Drake later scored five straight points to build a 19-point advantage at 61-42 with 12:36 to go when the Beavers subbed out their top rotation guys and gave the reserves the playing time the rest of the way.
Sophomore Jayden Brink led BVU with 16 points and four rebounds while making 3-of-7 from downtown. Bryte also made three shots from downtown and finished with 12 points. The duo were the only two players to reach double figures as 11 different players scored at least two. As a team, the Beavers made 12-of-35 shots from beyond the arc (34.3 percent) and went 18-of-53 overall (34.0 percent).
The Bulldogs (4-2) also made 12 treys from downtown and shot 41.4 percent from distance and 60.9 percent overall. They had seven players score in double figures led by 6'9" sophomore forward Okku Federiko with 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals. Drake also held a 42-18 edge on the glass.
Buena Vista returns home on Saturday night, Nov. 22, to host Bethel University (1-1) in a non-conference game at 6 p.m.
