It was a standout first collegiate season for Hernandez as she finished the year ranked third in the league in kills per set (3.54) during conference play while her 85 total kills in those matches tied for sixth. She was also 13th in attack percentage at .233, fourth in points per set (3.92) and sixth in digs per set (4.17). Freshman of the Year Macy Plunker (Neb. Wesleyan) finished just ahead of Hernandez at 3.76 kills per set.
Hernandez recorded at least 10 kills in six of the eight A-R-C matches played and finished with a double-double (kills-digs) in five of those. Among her top performances was a 22-kill, 19-dig effort during a five-set road loss at Loras College on Oct. 18. She opened her A-R-C career with 13 digs and a career-high 23 digs versus Simpson College.
Buena Vista finished the season at 8-16 overall (1-6 A-R-C).
