After Luther scored the first two points of the third set, it was essentially all Beavers from there as they used an eight-point surge to go in front 10-3 and never looked back. The margin grew to as much as 12 at 20-8. Luther was able to make a bit of a late run to get within 22-16 but that was as close as it would get. The freshman duo of Gregg and Charley Hernandez shut the door with kills in the final points to win 25-18.
Gregg led all players with 15 kills and added a career-high 13 digs to register her third double-double of the year and her first since Sept. 12. Hernandez also chalked up a double-double with 12 kills and a team-high 15 digs while sophomore Ashlyne Havermann chipped in with 12 digs from her libero spot.
Gregg and Hernandez both tallied an attack percentage of over .300 and combined for 27 of the team's 42 kills. The duo also had a pair of ace serves and one solo block. Reese Nieuwenhuis was the next closest in kills with five Sophomore Merced Ramirez did her part by distributing the ball to the hot hands all match long and dished out 31 assists which was her highest total since the conference opener against Simpson when she turned in 36.
Buena Vista posted double-digit kills in all three sets while Luther combined for only 14 in the final two after turning in 11 in the opener.
The win for the Beavers snapped the program's 22-match conference losing streak. Their last win came in the regular season finale back in 2022 when they held off Nebraska Wesleyan University at home in five sets.
