LINCOLN, Neb. (Oct. 22, 2025) - The Buena Vista men's soccer team battled closely with Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday night, but it was the Prairie Wolves edging the Beavers with a pair of second half goals en route to a 2-0 victory.
NWU held a slight 9-8 advantage in shots in the first half with only five combined shots on-goal. The Prairie Wolves broke a scoreless match midway through the second half on a penalty kick before adding an insurance goal with 10 minutes to go.
Buena Vista had 13 shots on the night with four on-goal but couldn't find the back of the net. Sophomore
Jeramiah Rediske registered a team-high four shots to help lead the way for the Beavers with freshman
Andres Gonzalez and senior
Kade Stover each adding two.
Max Matthies scored on the penalty kick for NWU and was one of two players to register four shots on the night to lead the Prairie Wolves who improved to 5-6-4 overall (3-2-1 A-R-C).
Zachary Sigler went the distance in-goal for the Beavers and made four saves.
Buena Vista is now 5-9-1 (0-6 A-R-C) and travels to Central College on Saturday, Oct. 25, for its final road contest of the year. Kickoff in Pella is set for 2:30 p.m.
