Miller Leads Men's Cross Country at Augie Twilight

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Sept. 6, 2024) - It was the season opener on Friday night for the Buena Vista University men's cross country team as the Beavers competed at the annual Augustana College Twilight held at Yankton Trails.

In a field that was made up of 375 total runners and 30 different teams from all collegiate levels, fifth-year senior Kyle Miller led BVU in the 4-mile race with a 62nd place finish overall in a time 19:59.32 which is a new personal best by nearly one-tenth of a second. 

Juniors Carter Braun and Haydn Piskorski were next for BVU while fellow junior Dylan Austad, freshman Brayden Mahlum, junior Zach Thompson and sophomore Aiden Egertson rounded out the team's line-up. BVU claimed 24th place overall.

Iowa Western CC won the team title with 53 to edge out runner up South Dakota St. by two points. Iowa Western's Geofrey Ronoh took home the individual title in a time of 17:58.55,

Buena Vista returns to the course on Sept. 20 to compete at the annual Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota. Race time is set for 11 a.m.
