Pregon won in straight sets with a pair of thrilling 7-5, 7-5 wins at No. 2 singles while Webb and Harger each picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Daniel Vargas won by forfeit at No. 6 for the final win, as BVU snaps a three-match losing streak against the Storm.
“Tonight was a great win for the team from top to bottom,” said BVU head coach Brett Groen. “Every single person that played contributed to the conference win. The conditions definitely made each player change their style of play, and the person who figured it out first come out on top for their matches. This was our first conference win since March of 2022, so it was great to get that feeling back for the team. We have won two of our last three matches, and ever since our trip to Wisconsin, we have picked up our level of play each and every night out.”
Buena Vista is now 2-7 overall (1-0 A-R-C) while Simpson dips to 1-6 (0-1 A-R-C). The Beavers host Morningside University in a non-conference match on Thursday, Apr. 4, at 4 p.m.
