Men's Tennis Comes up Short in 7-2 Loss to Duhawks

WATERLOO, Iowa (Apr. 27, 2024) - The Buena Vista University men's tennis team faced Loras College Saturday morning with a bid into the American Rivers Conference Tournament on the line, but the Beavers had their season come to a close after a tough 7-2 loss to the Duhawks inside of the Black Hawk Tennis Club.

Brock Bruns and Ryan Webb picked up a win for the Beaver in their No. 2 doubles match while Bruns also went on to notch a win in singles play to wrap up a perfect 4-0 weekend overall.

There were three overall singles matches that went into the third set tiebreaker.

“We played as tough and as hard as ever this afternoon,” said BVU head coach Brett Groen. “I can not say enough how proud I was of the effort and the way we battled today. We definitely have set the foundation for great things to come and despite being discouraged by the loss, the guys are excited to know that they can battle in our very tough conference.”

Buena Vista closes out its season at 5-14 overall (2-6 A-R-C).
