DECORAH, Iowa (Apr. 20, 2024) - The Buena Vista University men's golf team is in 11th place following the opening round of the Luther College Spring Invite on Saturday which is being held at Oneota Country Club. Cooper Sebastian is the team's clubhouse leader in a tie for 16th following a round of 78.
Justin Hanks, who's golfing as an individual, carded an 80 and is in a large group tied for 25th. He knocked in a pair of birdies on the back nine to close out his round. Matthew Turpen, who is also competing as an individual, is tied for 36th after his round of 82 which featured a birdie on the 18th hole. Kaleb Sander and Mason Laven both turned in 85's with Laven shooting a strong 39 on the back nine.
Kaden Miller finished his round with an 87 to round out the line-up for the Beavers. Quinn Van Roekel is the third individual taking part for BVU and turned in a 95.
Buena Vista posted a round of 335 and sits two shots behind Waldorf for 10th. Carleton College is the clubhouse leader by three shots after its opening round 297.
Sunday's final round is set to tee-off at 11 a.m.
