HILTON HEAD, S.C. (Mar. 4, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's tennis team played its first match of the spring break trip on Monday morning by facing Johnson & Wales (NC), and the Beavers used a strong start en route to a 6-3 victory.

BVU swept all three doubles matches to build the early lead before later notching singles wins by senior Rachel Brockney (No. 2), Hailey Meseck (No. 3) and Nancy Flores (No. 4). Brockney and Flores won by 8-0 decisions while Meseck earned an 8-1 triumph. Lily Gust nearly made it four straight wins in the middle of the line-up but was edged, 8-7, at No. 5

Buena Vista improves to 2-12 overall while Johnson & Wales dropped to 3-4.

The Beavers will continue play on Tuesday against Penn State Harrisburg.
