INDIANOLA, Iowa (Feb. 23, 2024) - The Buena Vista women's wrestling team wrapped up its first-ever season today inside of Cowles Fieldhouse on the campus of Simpson College, but not before leaving with three placewinners on the day led by freshman Magalie Mogiga's fifth-place finish.

BVU sent four individuals to compete in the nine-team regional. Mogiga, wrestling in the 191-pound bracket, bounced back from a quarterfinal loss with a big pin in her first consolation match in 49 seconds. Then after losing by fall in the consolation semifinals, she closed out the first season by winning a thrilling 3-2 decision to claim fifth.

Fellow freshman Shania Graybill and Rylee Rodish added seventh and eighth places, respectively. Graybill closed out her season with a fall in 2:03 in the seventh-place match while Rodish notched her lone win with a fall during the second round of consolation in 2:21.

The Beavers finished in eighth-place overall with 17 points. The University of Iowa tallied 220.0 points to claim the team title over runner-up McKendree University (Ill.) which had 193.0.
