DECORAH, Iowa (Jan. 27, 2024) - Buena Vista freshman Allie Leisher registered a career-high 18 points and was the only player to score in double figures, but it wasn't enough for the Beavers on Saturday afternoon, as they fell to Luther College on the road by a score of 76-44.
Leisher ended the game at 7-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-4 from downtown. The seven made field goals and four long range buckets were also career-bests with the 18 points marking her first career double-digit scoring output.
Sophomore Jenna Hallock added seven points and three rebounds while Abby Nagel chipped in with seven boards.
The Norse jumped out to a 19-4 lead after one quarter and BVU was unable to threaten from there. Both teams added 16 second quarter points before Luther outscored the Beavers by nine points in the third and eight in the fourth.
Buena Vista made 6-of-14 shots from beyond the three-point line but was held to 36.2 percent from the field overall.
Both teams struggled from the free-throw line by missing a combined 18 attempts. Luther also held a 42-30 advantage on the glass and scored 35 of its points off turnovers.
The Beavers are now 2-15 overall (1-9 A-R-C) with the Norse improving to 10-10 (5-6 A-R-C).
