WAVERLY, Iowa (Sept. 23, 2023) - The Buena Vista men's golf team turned in the program's lowest-ever single round score over by carding a school record 287 on Saturday to close out the Wartburg College Fall Invite in a tie for second place overall with the host Knights.
BVU had four of its golfers shoot at 75 or under to lead the team to a final round score of 287. That is six shots better than its final round 293 from last weekend's BVU Invite. The last time the program went under 290 was in 2001-02 when it shot a 289 at the Northwest Iowa Invite.
Owen Collison and
Cooper Sebastian each tied for eighth overall after rounds of 71 and 73, respectively.
Kaleb Sander turned in a career-low round of 70 to help lead the charge and finished one shot back and in a tie for 11th.
Matthew Turpen had another solid weekend with rounds of 76 and 73 to tie for 16th.
Jordan Greenwood rounded out the line-up with a 76.
The Beavers 'B' also had a strong showing with rounds of 309 and 310 which led them to a sixth place finish.
Mason Laven carded a career-low round of even-par 72 in the opening round before following with a 77 on Saturday and tied for 16th.
Payton Greenwood turned in a 76 to close out his final round and was next at 33rd.
Justin Hanks and
Brayden Irish each turned in 36-hole scores of 157 to tie for 35th while
Kaden Miller posted a 79 on Saturday to finish four strokes back.
Buena Vista will close out its fall schedule at the Central College Fall Invite from Oct. 1-3.
