MARION, Iowa (Sept. 11, 2023) - The Buena Vista men's golf team moved up two spots on Sunday afternoon and finished in 10th place overall during the Mount Mercy Fall Invite, held at Hunter's Ridge Golf Course over the weekend.
Sophomore
Matthew Turpen carded a two-over round of 76 over the final 18 holes on Sunday to move up four spots and finish in a tie for 13th place overall. He had three birdies on the day, including one on the par-5 12th hole which moved him back to even-par on the day. He was staring at an even-par round until a tough double-bogey on the par-5 17th.
Kaleb Sander was next for BVU as he turned in a final round 79 and finished tied for 49th while
Cooper Sebastian also registered a 79 and was just two shots back at 162.
Kaden Miller and
Owen Collison tied with overall scores of 166 for the weekend, including a final round and career-low 78 for Collison.
As a team, the Beavers shot a 310 for the day and was 10 strokes better than Saturday's opening round.
BVU is right back out on the course Monday morning to compete in the Iowa Central Invite held in Fort Dodge, Iowa, at Fort Dodge Country Club.
