ORANGE CITY, Iowa (April 22, 2023) - The Buena Vista men's outdoor track & field team battled through the less than ideal weather conditions on both Friday and Saturday as it competed in the Red Raider Invite, hosted by Northwestern College, and finished with three individual titles.
Zackary Huffman turned in a strong performance on Friday night in the javelin, taking fourth overall with a toss of 141-3.
On Saturday,
Kyle Miller was victorious in the 1500-meter run by holding off Dordt University's Joe Anderson for a time of 4:0306.
Jadon Micke gave the Beavers another title by winning the 400-meter dash in a time of 51.44 seconds which was just under a half-second off his season-best mark.
John Jeanisse won the 200-meter dash by six one-hundredths of a second at 22.31 seconds. Teammate
Ashton Bates was fourth at 22.84 seconds. Jeanisse just missed a victory in the 100-meter dash, however, as he was runner-up at 10.90 seconds and only one-tenth of a second off the winning time.
The 4x100 relay team took third overall with a time of 44.01 seconds which was just off its season-best mark of 43.16 that is ranked sixth in the A-R-C.
In the field events, Easton Hayes took second overall in the long jump with a season-best mark of 20-5.75.
Buena Vista is scheduled to take part in the Grand View University Viking Classic on Friday, April 28. Qualifiers to the Drake Relays will compete inside of Drake Stadium April 27-29.
