CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (April 1, 2023) - Buena Vista junior
Kyle Miller claimed the lone individual title for the Buena Vista men's outdoor track & field team on Saturday as it began the outdoor season by taking part in the Mustang Open, hosted by Mount Mercy University. As a team, BVU was fourth overall among the 13 teams and tallied 71 total points.
Miller set a new personal best time by crossing the finish line in 4:03.75, surpassing his previous best by just over two seconds.
Kaden Sadler continued the success for the Beavers in the distance events by claiming second in the 5000-meter run with a personal-best time of his own at 15:18.25. He was just four seconds off the school record set two years ago.
John Jeannise highlighted the sprint races for the Beavers as captured a top-five finish in the 200-meter dash at 22.42.
In field events, Joe FIsher finished third in the pole vault with a height of 3.55 meters.
Isaiah Thomas came in third in the triple jump with his leap of 11.56 meters.
BVU had a pair of top-5 finishes in the relay events, highlighted by a runner-up placing in the 4x100 in 43.16 which is just two seconds off the school record time set in 2009.
The Beavers will continue their outdoor schedule on April 7-8 by taking part in the University of South Dakota Early Bird Meet at Vermillion, S.D.
